History.

Lactobacteria are the most part of so-called probiotics. Entering the gastrointestinal tract of human or animal with food they keep their activity and make favorable effect on health and physiological processes in organisms. Because lactobacteria are widely used for milk fermentation and obtained products are consumed by greatest part of population, one could believe, that they are used from ancient time for the prophylaxis of number of diseases.

USSR Defense Ministry according the classified theme charged Institute of Medical radiology (MRRC RAMS) to develop issued agent for the military protection against radiation and thermal injury. The search for the most effective composition took more than 15 years: hundreds of lacto and bifido strains were studied. As result only three strains were selected. With participation of Gabrichevsky Moscow research Institute of epidemiology and microbiology the unique agent for early treatment of radiation injury was developed. Particularly, its protective properties were 70 % more effective than those of existing issued protective agents.  Results of the preparation study demonstrated its efficacy as agent for preventing of damage of normal cells at chemo and radiotherapy. After USSR decay great part of works was closed.

Medbiopharm Company succeeded in restoring the technology of production from inactivated (killed) lactobacteria, and organized new research works.  Further study of the preparation carried in MRRC RAMS with immediate participation of Medbiopharm Company demonstrated that not only live microorganisms have therapy and prophylactic properties. It was found, that both their metabolic products and cells fragments are valuable material also. It means that being crashed, microorganisms keep functioning and make medicinal effect at various diseases. These «killed» or inactivated bacteria not only compare well with live lactobacteria, but even surpass them. They are assimilated better, their preparation have longer shelf-life and are cheaper. They have no restrictions imposed when live lactobacteria preparation are used. Inactivated lactobacteria protect liver at alcohol intoxication and against other toxic injuries, particularly, against toxins produced by pathogenic intestinal bacteria. The last allows to use preparation at dysbacteriosis. Basing on the performed researches Medbiopharm Company set up the production of Lactobin - the substance for dietary supplements based on inactivated lactobacteria.

Now licenses for Lactobin substance and Lacbin dietary supplement are approved, necessary equipment is bought and production unit is under preparing to serial production.
