Researchers of Medbiopharm company faced the technical problem – to create the method for determination of iodine content in iodine containing organic compounds and substances, which will allow to determine iodine amount in ranges from tens micrograms to tens milligrams per 1 kg of studied organic compound, particularly, protein. At the same time the method should be available for average manufacturers of iodine containing food additives.
Existing methods are listed in the Table, they are intended for solving specific tasks and not applicable for iodine determination in iodine containing organic compounds and substances or being universal have low sensibility or require expensive equipment.
The essence of developed method is that first the sample of studied substance is prepared by specific way, and then Iodine amount is measured by polarographic method. The method is patented.
The method for Iodine determination developed by Medbiopharm specialists is approved in practice and attested by Federal Center of Sanitary Inspection of RF Health Ministry. Methodical Directive No.4.1.148103 – «Determination of mass Iodine concentration in food, row food, food additives and dietary supplements by voltamperometric method»: Methodical recommendations. – M.: Federal center of sanitary and epidemiological inspection of RF Health ministry, 2003.-17 pp. (RU) were developed for performing mass and available control for Iodine content food (in small concentrations) and approved n June, 30, 2003 by Chief sanitary inspector of Russian Federation G. Onischenko.
Measurement of microelements content, including Iodine, and other substances is performed by voltamperomeric analyzer «Ecotest-VA» (developed by NPP «Econix-Expert») in accordance with existing state standards (GOST) and attested methods, approved by State standard Committee and enlisted in State Sanitary Inspection list.
